San Diego Spring Break April 2-9th 2009

At Georgia's

We rented a beach house on this great beach called Wind & Sea Beach! This was a great family vacation. During the day we spend most of our time playing on the beach and exploring. We found so many cool creatures. Austin even found a little hermit crab  he called him CRABBY and he spent 3 days in our sand bucket as Austin's pet. Austin put CRABBY back into the ocean on our last day to join his own family. We also had awesome Tied Pools on our beach and at low tide there was a whole new world to explore. We found large, small, orange, purple starfish (so cool)! Lots of shells with little creatures living inside. The beach was so gorgeous. Our beach had lots of surfers which was great entertainment.

We were very close to downtown La Jolla and found some of our favorite restaurants. The very favorite was Sammy's Pizza so yummy and great salads too. We also enjoyed Georgia's (awesome scenery, picture above) it overlooks the ocean, sushi at Sushi on the Rock, my kids love sushi who new and The Spot (good pizza). Did I mention we ate a lot of PIZZA! The kids also found an awesome candy store.
They were in heaven! La Jolla is a great little town to explore.

In the evenings we would go to the beach to get our last little bit on energy out and play in the waves and watch the most amazing sunsets! I think this was my favorite time of the day. We also enjoyed going back to the house and playing Farkle and Phase 10 and getting the giggles!

Austin started using words like "totally radical waves or narley . Radical, Totally, Narley? Where did he get that?  By the end of the trip he was totally talking like a little surfer dude. So funny!

Ashlyn loved playing in the waves and was always challenging them. I guess you could say the waves won every time. One time she was fully dressed and decided she wanted to
challenge the waves. She said this wave is mine and no sooner did she say that a HUGE wave came crashing down on her and wiped her out! She was soaked and had sand covering her entire body. I think she still has sand in her hair from that wave!

To sum it up we had a TOTALLY RADICAL time with a little NARLEY on the side!

The 2nd Most Embarrassing Day of Austin's life . . .

I picked Austin up from school and as he jumped into the car the first words out of his mouth were:

Austin: "Mom, this was the 2nd most embarrassing day of my life!!!"
Me: "Why what happened?" I asked.
Austin: "Well look at my pants right here!"
As Austin pointed to the crotch of his pants he had the biggest hole! I couldn't help but start to laugh uncontrollably. And even now hours later I am still laughing.

Austin: "GEEZ mom I'm never wearing those pants again. I'm so lucky that only one of my friends noticed! And my friend couldn't stop laughing. I was so embarrassed!"
Me:  "So Austin what was your 1st most embarrassing day if this is your second?" I was very curious to hear his answer.
Austin: "I don't know but this was the second most embarrassing day for sure!

Through my laughter all I could say was I'm so sorry, thank goodness tomorrow is a new day! And I'll have Grandma fix your pants!

Austin becoming very observant of things around him

A conversation with Austin in the car...

Austin: Mom did you see that car? ( as a white Mustang with a bold blue stripe down the middle raced by us).

Mom: Yes Austin I did.

Austin: That is a HOT RIDE why don't we get a ride like that?

My little guy is noticing more in the world around him and having an opinion about those things. I'm not used to it, it catches me off guard. Just like the other day Austin needed new shoes. A typical trip is something like this:  I choose a pair of shoes to my liking I make sure they fit I buy and we leave. Austin never really says a word and he's happy and so am I. But yesterday we went to get new shoes and I picked out a pair of shoes and Austin said,"No mom those aren't cool but these are COOL! Can I get them please? Mom, " Austin they don't even have velcro you'll have to learn how to tie your own shoes." All practicality has gone out the window. Hmmmm am I ready for this?

Austin what's the deal with having a say in what you wear, it never mattered before! I'm just sayin....

A Night of Bowling

We have been bowling a lot lately and it has been so much fun. Ashlyn won't ever get in any pictures so I have to sneak one in, but it's usually a back shot!

Rick has been so excited about bowling that he signed us up for lessons.
FUN TIMES!

The Draper Temple

We got the opportunity to walk through the Draper Temple open house. This was a first for my kids. I think that is was a great experience for them to be able to see in the inside and how beautiful all the rooms where. Ash was amazed by the paintings in each room and Austin was amazed at how they hid speakers in the walls!
I am also grateful that my parents were able to go with us. It was such a treat!
The chandelier in the Celestial room was AMAZING, so beautiful!
